Yankee Candles

Saturday, 25 January 2014
When I started back at uni this September, I made a friend in one of my classes and he sells Yankee Candles. Obviously, I asked him to get me a tonne of them and he did :)

I'm a big fan of the food scents and most of the ones I own smell like cookies or cakes, including my all time favourite scent Vanilla Cupcake. I also thought I'd give a fresh scent a try so I got one called Coastal Waters, which smells like the seaside and reminds me of great days out and little holidays.

All of the scents are the perfect strength, not too overpowering but enough for you to notice and recognise each scent. Usually when I'm around anything scented I get an awful headache, but Yankee candles are the only ones I've found that don't have that effect on me. Each of these votives will burn for 15 hours, which is just enough for me to be able to switch to a new scent before I get bored.

I've seen yankee candles for sale in a few card shops, but their collection is limited and they never have the scents I want to try.

My friend's store is called The Yankee Ebay and it has such a huge collection of candles, a lot of which aren't available in stores any more, so definitely check it out. You can visit The Yankee Ebay by clicking these links: eBay, Facebook, Twitter

eBay find: Floral Pencil Case

Saturday, 11 January 2014
Hi guys!

First of all, Happy New Year (is it too late to say that now?) and I hope you had a really lovely Christmas. Today I'm bringing you the cheapest, cutest pencil case I have ever seen.

When I started back at uni in September I wanted a cute little case to keep my pens and USB drive in, and I am annoyingly picky so I couldn't find one I liked in stores I visited. I headed over to trusty ol' eBay and within seconds found one I absolutely loved.

I'm obsessed with any thing that remotely resembles Cath Kidston's prints and I couldn't believe how cheap this was. It was literally just 99p, no postage charge, nothing! You can buy it on ebay here. There are four colour options to choose from: pink, green, light blue & dark blue. Weirdly, this is the 'green' option though I would say it's more of a pale baby blue.

As it is shipped from China, it does usually take between a couple of weeks and a month to arrive to the UK, but if you don't mind waiting a little it's more than worth it.

BLEACH London At Home Dye Kits: Rosé

Saturday, 19 October 2013

First off, apologies for the lack of posts. It's been difficult to find the time recently with starting final year of uni. Hopefully I'll get time to post a bit more often again :)

I always get bored of my hair so easily and I've been toying with the idea of dying it pink for a little while. I succumbed to the hype surrounding these dyes and headed to Boots on launch day to buy a bottle. The range features darker colours for a bolder look/use on darker hair and lighter, pastel colours for light blonde/bleached hair. The bottle says the colour should last between 2 and 10 washes.

I chose the shade 'Rosé' as it looked like the exact pink I was going for.

The process of dying the hair was incredibly easy. I'm not an expert by any means, but all I did was section off my hair, starting with the bottom layer and worked the dye from root to tip. If you follow the instructions on the bottle then you'll find it very easy to do. I have quite long and thick hair and didn't find the process tedious at all as the consistency of the dye made it easy to work with. I left the dye to develop for about 20 minutes, just to make sure it'd got the chance to work. After I'd washed the dye off and dried my hair, I was left with a lovely pastel pink tint all over and I absolutely love it!

This is my hair before:

this is my hair after:

It took one bottle to do all of my hair. I probably could have done with one and a bit just to make sure everywhere was covered, but one did the job. I've washed my hair once since and the colour has come out a little bit, but it's still pink all over. I've already repurchased rosé and hope it clings a little more with a second coat.

BLEACH dyes are available from Boots stores with the colour dyes retailing at £5.

*Also, a little warning: do not use the 'Parma Violets' shade of the BLEACH dyes. They have been recalled due to staining/damaging peoples' hair so please don't buy it if you still see it out there! I haven't heard anything bad about the other shades, only this one*

have you tried BLEACH dyes yet? what colour is your fav?
